Last year we had so many blueberries, we decided to make a unique blueberry product so that everyone, regardless of the season, could enjoy the taste of wild, unprocessed blueberries. Our Wild Blueberry Maple Topping (formerly Fusion) was a huge success and we introduced it to many people at our farm, a few local farm stores and the New Hampton Farmers Market.
Our blueberries were less productive year this year, but we had already planned to produce the Wild Blueberry Maple Topping again, AND add a new product – Wild Blueberry Maple Syrup. Rather than change our plans, I did a little research and found The Taylor-Brown Wild Blueberry Company who had beautiful, tasty wild blueberries and a similar philosophy in their farming practices – allowing the blueberries to grow in their natural environment without the use of chemicals to control pests or vegetation.
Because Taylor-Brown harvests wild blueberries from their own fields as well as other local fields they manage, they have more than enough wild blueberries for our products. With the help of Genuine Local, a company that provides access to a commercial kitchen to help local farmers expand their product offerings, we will have both products by early September.
