Everything is blooming and the bees are buzzing. If blossoms are any indication of production this year, we will have a bumper crop. We are even seeing blossoms on the low bush blueberries in the back field, which has been laying dormant since we bought the farm.
We’ve been asked before if we have bee hives to ensure the pollination. We thought about it, but we always have lots of wild bees buzzing around so it doesn’t seem necessary. There are so many flowering plants in addition to the blueberry blossoms scattered around our property, we don’t have any problem attracting enough bees for pollination.
We may consider bees as a future project, but for now we will stick with the wild bees and the amazing pollination skills the bring to the farm. We are very grateful that nature does such a great job keeping everything in order.
