Wild Berry Farm has several acres of wild low bush and high bush blueberries. Unlike commercial orchards which are planted in neat manageable rows, our blueberries are scattered around the field in no particular order. Picking your own becomes even more of an adventure for this reason.

We have a variety of  sizes and flavors for eating, cooking and canning. Come by and pick some and see for yourself.

We’d love to share our adventures on the farm. Our welcome gift to you is the Simply Good Food – Memories You Can Taste recipe book filled with our favorite blueberry and maple recipes.

Benefits of Wild Blueberries

Studies have shown that wild blueberries have twice the antioxidant capacity per serving of regular blueberries and protect against diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.  Superfoods RX states “the blueberry contains more powerful disease-fighting antioxidants that any other fruit or vegetable”.  Wild Blueberries are smaller than conventional blueberries with a much stronger flavor. You can taste the difference.

The Wild Blueberry vs Organic

Our main blueberry garden has the original blueberry bushes and we work hard to maintain the unique plantings that have happened naturally over the years. While we are not certified organic, we do not use any chemical fertilizers or herbicides to cultivate our blueberries. We keep manage the weeds and invasives using clippers, pruners, and a good weed wacker, removing most by hand.

To help us manage this daunting task, we have introduced Baby Doll Sheep that are specifically bred to help manage the weeds for orchards. Unfortunately, we found they also like blueberry bushes, but have kept them as part of the farm based on their cuteness factor.
